Tipos Infames

Can you trust them?

Tipos-Infames_cafeteria

Books and wines are a perfect combination we are used to enjoy on our sofas.

Lately we can find many places round the cities offering this option. So it's more and more common enter a bar and discover walls of books for sale: I don't know if it's the surprise effect, the combination, or simply the fact that reading and tasting a good wine it's for sure a good marriage.

In Malasaña there is a lovely mix of culture and good wines: Tipos Infames literally means Infamous Types, even if the 3 owners don't look so infamous!

Two floors, good atmosphere, cozy ambient and most of all a great selection of books and wines.
They also organize events, presentation and here you can find narrative, poetry, your time, a break, spanish wine and many other things.

Harina in Madrid

The oldest and most original form of leavened bread was probably discovered by a big mistake.

This is clear if you know how sourdough is done. Basically, mixing wheat flour with water and letting it sitting in the open air at room temperature. Then wild yeasts in the air will settle in the mix, eat the natural sugars and convert them into lactic (and other) acids which give it a sour flavor. The process needs to be treated for several days, but it is still the simplest and most natural way to get yeast you can employ for bread.

Bread done with mother dough is totally different in terms of quality: it’s so tasting, easy to digest, natural, lighter, healthy. While not having any kind of preservative, it retains much without getting old.

So, n Madrid, my favorite bakery is [H]arina. This lovely place has a magnificent views to Puerta de Alcalá: here you can sit in or just buy your bread and take away. You will find incredible handmade bread using sourdough seven days a week.

Bread lovers will choice between: large loaf, baguette, rural bread, bread with five seeds, nuts and raisins bread, olive bread, bread made of dried tomato, onion bread, garlic bread…

And if it seems not enough, at Harina they prepare salads, sandwiches and tasting cakes. Everything strictly homemade!
Enjoy it.

L'Habilleur in Madrid

L'HABILLEUR: WHERE STYLE AND GOOD OCCASIONS MEET

Everyone speaks about crisis, but it's still possible doing quality shopping for a good price.

Only need to know where buying!

In the heart of Madrid there is incredibly narrow outlet called L'Habilleur, a place for those who like dressing well without spending a lot of money. It's the best choice for a fashion evening.

Located in the very central Madrid, in the lively (and lovely) Chueca district, l’Habilleur is one of most interesting man and woman store for quality shopping in Madrid: a fancy outlet selling samples and end-of-season designer clothes with a large discount.

I give you some names, as you can imagine which kind of store is waiting for you: Plein Sud, Stefano Mortari, Paul & Joe, Giorgio Brato, Forte-Forte, Dr Fango, Marlota and Sofie Doore. And men will find here Hartford, Ganesh and Vintage.

Everything is elegant and stylish, even if good for your daily clothing.
You would dress from head to toe as it has from hats to shoes.

The shop has two floors, upstairs man and woman, the most elegant. On the ground floor women will find more casual clothes.

They also have Wifi connection, for those who want always stay tuned!

El Rastro Market in Madrid

The biggest Flea Market in Europe!

The first time I heard about El Rastro Market was because of a friend living in Madrid.
She told me the funniest nights in Madrid are used to end with a big breakfast on Sunday morning and a tour at El Rastro Market!

When I was there, I simply visited the Market in the morning, before my lunch around La Latina district. And for sure it worths to spend two hours there.
It is said the name derives from the fact that cattle from Madrid's abattoir were transported to nearby tanneries located in Ribera de Curtidores street and left a trail ("rastro" in Spanish) of blood on the streets.

Now it's a colorful, huge flea market. Every Sunday at 9 a.m. hundreds of posts are set up around Calle Ribera de Curtidores. They are visited by a large amount of “madrileños” and tourists. All types of new and second hand articles are sold!

Said to be the largest flea market in Europe with up to 3500 different stalls, it extends through several streets in one of the city's oldest working-class neighborhoods.

There are bargains in everything from furniture to clothing, together with souvenirs and a wide range of other goods. Antique shops also line the surrounding streets and remain open on Sundays to take advantage of the market's lively crowds and wonderful atmosphere.

Remember: never pay the price initially asked!
This is an experience not to be missed. When the stalls close in mid-afternoon, it's time of beer and tapas and a crowd of people fill bars and restaurants in the area.

Get a look!
